IMO that isn't the basis for a complaint. Cops can issue a yellow if they think that your car should be checked out by the pits. Doesn't matter if they're right or wrong... if they're in doubt, they'll still issue it anyway just in case.

However, if you do want to take it further, on the paperwork it should have the officer's name who issued you with the canary, as well as the section that he is from.

This happened to me a while ago, on melbourne cup day. Basically I used to live in East Perth near the headquarters.... long story short, I was followed from East Perth all the way to Bayswater/Bassendean and pulled over. They searched my car and my belongings illegally, searched myself as well as my 9yr old brother (at the time), then continued to nit pick at shit on my car. I provided permits and everything trying to do the right thing.... in the end, I was yellow stickered for a headunit.

I cracked the shits in a big way, took the car over the pits, got it passed, then made a written complaint to his super intended of the section in which he was from. In the end I was reimbursed the $65 or whatever it was for the pit inspection, and received a formal apology from the super intendant, as well as the officer in question.

Since then, every time I get pulled over, after they've done their "check"....they're always very nice to me.

Go figure. Fight the power. Good luck.

Thanks dude, so wot ur saying is they can still give a yellow even if u have a permit for the mod in question? so then wots the point in paying for a permit in the 1st place if u can still get pinged for it??? seems point less to me

Its the principle of it...

If you go to all the trouble of modifying the car and get the all the permits, all the the tests and all the engineering certs. And then get yellow stickered for it all, then what was the point of going to all that effort, just to get pinged by a copper on a power trip.

For Example... How would you like it if your Lib conversion, which I assume is all engineered and certified, got pinged because you dont have a "H" Gear shift pattern on your gear knob even though the Liberites had it stamped on a badge next to the shifter?

and just FYI, the last time i read teh ADR's regarding underbody lighting, use of colours asociated with emergency vehicles (blue, red) was illegal, so if thats your pic in your avatar, the cop had every right to sticker you.

stickers are a part of motoring in WA, feel lucky that your not in SA or other states where modding cars is far more restricted.

as for the neons, the fast and the furious movies have been and gone, back to reality.
