Default Plumber Recommendations...

My hot water system kicked the bucket so im looking at replacing it with a rheem integrity 24 constant flow system. I can get it for near enuff to cost price which is good.

However, I dunno who to get it installed by. Does any one have any recommendations as to which plumber to employ to do the job for me?

Also if anyone has a constant flow system already, i've been told that i need to upgrade my piping to cope with the extra flow. Is this tru?....sum ppl i know havent bothered upgrading their piping, just their regulator and their systems work fine!

Any help wud be great!

How much have you been quoted?
I would say that a good price would be something in the $900 - $1000 mark.

I have just finished working with Reece plumbing for 6 1/2 years and yes you should upgrade the piping. If you have a new house, then you most probably will have a new meter. You could also look at the Rinnai 26 which would give you slighty more water for a similar price, but just remember if you are constantly turning these units on they will suck the gas.

yeah i leaned towards the rheem as i kud get it cheaper than the rinnai. Still not convinced about upgrading the piping tho, my father in law has been running a more powerful system than the one im looking at for four years on standard 12 inch piping with a 2.75 reg and its doing just fine.

for a high flow unit, like the one you want to install, it is recommended to run a 20mm (3/4" for the old bastards) line for the gas.
15mm (1/2") is ok for the hot/cold water however.

is the house single storey, it 2+? question asked because the hi flow units can sometimes 'struggle' when they need to push water upstairs, or even down the opposite end of a longish house.

for a plumber, id give 'dave mouritz plumbers' a call, 0403 173 474.
tell him mitch sent ya, and he should look after you

(i work for reece aswell, thus my wealth of knowledge on the subject :P)

Try John McCarney at Capricorn plumbing, ph:0418925082. Does good work and at short notice. You shouldn't get the reply, "oh can do that for ya in about 3 weeks mate." like you get from some.
