Tuning is part of the 'modifying' equation is it not? If Speedworks had anything to do with the accident (and i am not implying that it has), they will come under scrutiny in the witness box if we are to believe the defence strategy that Wong's QC is likely to employ (as per original post). If tuning had something or nothing to do with it, then the evidence will come out during the trial. The QC will point the finger at everyone who's touched that car to prove 'innocence'.

Don't be so ignorant to think that tuning doesn't result in more power and torque, regardless of who did the spanner work.

EDIT: - I haven't bothered to read the court transcript to prove whether the following statement is true, but assuming it is, it appears as though mechanical failure is the defence argument:

"But defence lawyer Tom Percy said it was likely that the crash was the result of the modifications on the Lexus being done by people who were not adequately qualified.

The modifications caused a mechanical failure, which caused the Lexus’ back wheels to lock, Mr Percy said."

I dont see how a 1jz gte transplant results in a rear end locking up, no matter how badly or how good it is tuned.

Scot from Supertec is a qaulified mechanic who has done many many many top qaulity jobs.

Scrutinise all you like, its a crock of shit.

Tom Percy isnt on here making the claims, forum members are. Its certainly not deserved or needed.

in my opinion ( and others i assume ) its a bullshit excuse to blame the modifications as the cause of the accident. it doesnt matter how modified or even standard your car is ya can still reach lethal speeds, loose control, anything. if he does use the excuse and it gets taken into account/accepted whatever, its gonna open up a hole can of worms for other people who end up in similar circumstance and not just in regards to streetracing/dangerous driving. different case outcomes are used as references in all sorts of situations. eg: "well the gun shop sold me the bullets so its they're fault i went out and killed those 6 people!!"..... everyones responsible for they're own actions and i reckon its about time people wake up to this, im sick of hearing about people blaming something other than themselves for doing something wrong. if ya fuck up, step up to it!!

mech failure definately is a weak excuse.

Obviously speeding, probably racing. lost control, crashed, two girls dead. Left country.

we all speed every now and then, but we dont kill others in the process. We draw a line when its gone too far. this is the crucial difference, this dude obviously didnt and unfortunately innocent passengers paid the price.
