Default Manslaughter for "Streetracing"

Well it's in the news again, Ronald Wong, from HK is fighting his case regarding the death of the two girls who died when he crashed his car.

A witness says he was doing "more than 200km/h" when he crashed.

Mr Wong has a very, very good lawyer in Tom Percy QC. Interesting tact he has taken saying that the car was modified and it was that which caused the crash, not that he was street racing, as the other car that was "racing" has never been confirmed.

wonder if his car had permits for mods?

wonder how this is going to turn out? Who is paying for the procecution? the taxpayer or an personal/life/death insurance firm?

indeed, if the case does go his way, there will probably be a massive investigation into the legality of mods etc.

Depends on what legality it comes through on. whether it was the lexus part or the mod or the mod that caused the lexus to fail.

Sandstorm is brewing.......

that happened just around the cnr from my house
its simple really

he would have been FLYIN, couldnt handle the new mods and bam, car is a fire ball there is still a mammoth burn mark on the road where the car was. even if it DID happen to "fail" then it was still speed that made the crash as bad as it was

we can have modified cars guys
JUST DONT DRIVE LIKE A TOOL

my 2cents
carls

His QC can't be that good if he's recommending that defence strategy - it's like blaming the gun for shooting someone - the idiot behind the wheel/trigger had nothing to do with it - DUH!

I can imagine the prosecution licking their lips at that defence - "Dear Mr Wong, does your car have a brake pedal? Did you ever think of depressing it sometime after you realised the car was going too fast?"

its bad enough for modified car owners as it is! constantly being targeted, labelled as hoons no matter what, hard to get insurance or just bloody expensive, media exageration etc etc. if this goes his way blaming mods then its over for us i reckon, itll be even worse/harder to own a modifed vehicle of any kind!! and in my case anyways, i dont want an unmodifed car, i couldnt handle it, id get bored and annoyed!!

mods or no mods he was speeding, its his fault, not the car, his in control and responsible for his own actions.

And yeah it'll probably give the government fuel to crack down on modified cars.

it always seems to be the innocent ones that die in these circumstances. as horrific as the crash was described in the paper its a shock that he got out alive. cant blame the mods it comes down to human error. simple. i second the notion "guns dont kill people....people kill people"

The fuckstick chose his speed, therefore he should have considered the consequences.

The idiot then proceeded to flee the country...

IMO they should hang him from a powerline by his balls.
