Default Mobile Madness

I am currently trying to change my mobile phone prepaid account from Optus to Vodafone. When i insert the new sim it askes for an unlock code?? but i don't have one . The phone isn't locked to any network it was originally bought as a vodafone prepaid package but i changed to optus are they able to lock my phone without me knowing??

unlock code might be for the sim card itself... not the phone

i thort all vodaphone phones were locked?

have put the sim into another old phone that i have and it works fine also tried my wifes phone and comes up the same thing ( unlock code) her phone was on a vodaphone plan and we changed her to an optus prepaid about 12 months ago

Yes prepaid phones are usually locked to a provider, they dont want you getting a cheep subsidised phone from them and then connecting with someone else.

I have unlocked a couple of phones using the key generators found on this site...

Thanks to all for input especially wheels for his phone unlock site downloaded the nokia unlock package and it killed my antivirus

I have successfully unlocked a few prepaid phones using data cable connected to PC serial port & 12V battery connection and unlocking software. In my investigations, think it was on GSMArena site, there were a few reports of carriers sending lock codes back onto unlocked phones. So yeh it may be possible.
