Radar detectors are NOT illegal in WA, that includes the BEL 990i. I had one (before it was stolen from my car....... WAS IT YOU????!!!) and it worked a treat.
As for Joe, stop tormenting the newbies.

Be VERY careful when placing your detector.
I was lucky enough to have a polite cop let me know that if you have it in the middle of the windscreen then you may get a fine for 'obstruction of vision'. Keep it as low on the windscreen and possible. I must say it was a pleasant experience a cop got out of his patrol car at the lights, came over and let me know that some of his colleages would give me a fine for it being in the middle of the windscreen and recommended that I move it much lower. He then wished me a good day and went back to his car. Now I try to let other drivers know the same thing whenever I pull up next to them at the lights and notice the detector high on the windscreen.

That was pretty nice of him!!
I just pull out the photos I take of cop cars with their dash mounted radars taking up the whole front dash area. There are so many GPS units these days attached by suction cup to the windscreens |
