Link to all the above posted.

Well lucky it ain't like Sydney where all the fines start with 3 demerit points!!

But I'm glad that some of the offenses listed have had the demerit points decreased. Some were very ridiculous.

YAY for 40+kms over and double demerits wkends!

Giddyup 08-12-2006 09:49 PM

I believe the main reason for raising the dollar factor is that the current fines are not a deterrent, most people who flaunt the law are the ones who have the most money, ie lawyers, mine workers. What with the current economic boom most are saying psst to 150 fine I earn that in 10 mins.

Even in the NSW where fines are hefty, people still speed and break the law, so no matter how high the fines, people still believe it wont happen to them and still get pissed off at the coppers for pulling them over.

As the cops on this forum have already stated don't offend, no lose of points or dollars AUS.

Disclaimer: I occasionally speed, but not by much

Ouch!

Useless f*cktards. Revenue raising at its best.

not that i condone 40 + over the limit, i mean 90 in a 50 zone aint good.

Theres plenty of other options though, why not a 1 month suspension.

Surely if some actual thought was put into the system, good results will come, rather than just keep raising the fines..

its obviously not worked so far why would increasing it make any difference.

Yes it is breaking the law, what I am saying is that not everyone is perfect and does not speed sometime in there driving life, yes even me, just cause I am a cop doesnt mean that I am not human.

What do you what of your Police Service, a robot or a human to make decisions

Yes, and some of those who enforce the law believe they are above it.
Like the countless number of patrol cars and bikes that cruise past at just over the limit
