Interesting reading to say the least. I have a small interest in this subject as I am the manager - mining & mineral processing for company that recruits qualified candidates and sometimes greenskins for WA mining industry. Check us out at www.dtworkforce.com
With regards to pay rates, salary offered by mining companies just PM and I will tell you what you can expect to get and roster you will work.

Mining Engineer, 7 years experience, 6 yrs in UG, 1 yr Iron Ore, First Class Mine Mgrs Certificate???

Was with PI @ Marandoo 6 months ago, got a better roster and same money with Barrick UG....
