Ha Ha. I used to work there for three years in the computer dept. Technician and Sales under Derek Goulda as Prop.

I think computers may also be looking for good staff. I see still the guys I used to work with every now and then, and last I heard they were understaffed.

Also to anyone else considering this job, go for it.

Its a good job with decent pay for minimal requirments. As long as you have a good attitude and know who to sell then you will rake in the commission. The proprietors at Harvey norman are generally very good bosses.

For those willing to stick it out, there are also opportunities to progress up the ranks to managerial positions like 2IC, and eventually proprietor. I know of two guys my age who have made it to 2IC and one of them is undergoing training to become a proprietor in the very near future.

For normal sales people, there are a lot of perks on top of normal commision especially in computer departments, like planes trips over east to attend "conferences" (drinking parties after a company does a little show and tell) and "spivs" from selling certain products. You can score thousands of dollars in Shopping vouchers over the period of a year. Also lots of movie tickets and other toys. I now one guy who scored a plasma TV. There are lots of other incentives to sell also.

ludwig is correct last month in incentives i scored 5 bottle of cougars, and $500 coles myers vouchers for selling a couple of tv how easy is that. and i barely sell now hahah
