Default What is Adobe Lightroom?

I'm wondering what is the main purpose of this program? Did adobe just take out all the basic photo editing tools from photoshop and make a new software out of it?

Its a product aimed soley at photographers being (as I understand) a combination of Photoshop/Elements and Bridge with some nice Flash based slideshow presentation capabilities.

While you can do editing and RAW conversions in Lightroom I think it is a very basic editing application that is no true competition for their current program stable. Primarily designed as a presentation and reviewing tool for photography professionals to display files quickly to clients.

Trial copy can be downloaded (30days) Its in early stages after a few BETA tests its only at version 1.0 I think. Still got some refining to do....based on a few brief looks at the application.

I would like to see an export feature of the slideshow presentation to email to clients...not sure if it does that and I just havent found it yet.

I've been playing with the program for the last couple of hours. It is a good piece of software for editing photos. It's only in the last couple of days when I learnt what was vignetting, Lightroom has a feature to either increase or decrease vignetting.

If anyone can figure out how to export the slideshows, please tell me. When I export it, it just saves it as PDF files, and as far as I know, acrobat reader it doesn't work like a slideshow function program with the fade in and fade out stuff.

EDIT: I just found out Acrobat Reader does have the fade in fade out effects. Just put it into fullscreen and all those effects comes into play
