Default Upgrading 400D to 40D/5D

Hi all,

I'm looking at upgrading my SLR (Canon 400D) to something slightly more feature packed.

I hope to upgrade to the 1D, but that is a few years away. Would it be worth upgrading my 400D to a 40D, or is there not enough difference to justify it? Should I just wait/save for the 5D?

I'm just about set with lenses for now (EF-S lenses), and they wont be going to L-series' for a while, so time to upgrade the body.

What do you think - 40D vs 5D?

Appreciate your help once again.

Luca.

Well mate i went the 5D becuase i wanted the Fullframe and high Iso , Excellent camera i absolutly love the camera. the prints are bigger more colour, saying that i have only L series lens.

Now if you have ef-s lens well 40d may be a good upgrade. if your not going l series lens, 40d is a great camera just not full frame.

1D be ausome though 5d does more than enough for me.

Well depends what you want i personally love the fullframe and the colours and photos seem so much brighter and clearer than my 350d

mate if you wana to catch up your welcome to have a play with the camera see if you like it .take some pics.

I use a 24-70 F2.8 L and 70-200 F2.8 IS L i have used sigma and cheaper canon lens even using F4 lens i can tell the difference in goign f2.8

but yeah mate any time give me a call well catch up and you can have a look

Canon 5D is a dust sucker. If you not crazy about the dust, then go ahead. The second day when I got a 5D, I got dust on my CMOS. I even never changed the Lens that day and camera mostly sitting indoor. Bugger...

EF-s mount lenses wont fit on a full frame body they are designed for crop sensors, the 40d and 5d are two different cameras the 40d is more of a sports/action camera where as the 5d is more a Landscape/portrait camera, I have the 5d and love the camera, The 40d has alot less noise at high iso then the 400d.

Yeah you cant use ef-s lens on there you would sell them with the 400D but as you mentioned there you plan on getting l series anyway soon.

Yeah i have got a few dust spots as well but u just keep the rocket blower handy.
