Hey Al,

Appreciate that mate...but my wife wants to now buy local i.e. she wants a 450D with a local warranty. I don't mind getting a Kiss X2 or Rebel XSi, but I suppose she has a point...there isnt much savings to be had right now with the exchanges rates as they are. Thanks for the offer though!

Bump on this...anyone bought from Digital Direct before? They have a shop front over in Sydney at Bondi Junction, but they do online sales too. All reviews point to pretty good service as long as what you're buying is in stock and not on back order!!

http://www.digidirect.com.au/slr_cameras/canon

Can get 450D single lens kit for 998, or dual lens for 1200. Shipping is $15.90.

Does anyone know anyone locally that will match online prices? Even some of the Camera House franchises over in NSW have the same price, although our local ones here are a few hundred more for the same package.

Thoughts?

Stu is $100 more for the single lens kit, might be able to bargain him down?

Even better.

https://www.camerasdirect.com.au/ind...-lens-kit.html

A friend of mine from uni (who happens to be well into photography, has a Nikon DSLR and a fair few lenses), buys all his gear from Cameras Direct and reckons they are excellent...fast shipping and he always gets a better price from there than anywhere else.

I think I'm going to go with that, but I'll still hit up some of the local shops and see if they'll get close to that price...I'd love to walk out with a camera in my hands rather than waiting for it to come to the door!

+1 for happy Stu customer, pay cash and you can bargain the price down.

Also think about getting the enthusiast lens kit...17-85mm IS is lot better than the single lens kit. Also the telephoto lens you get in the twin lens kit = poo! but thats my opinion, good luck with it
