Canon 18-200mm lens
Hey there,
Does anyone have one of or have any experience with one of these? http://www.the-digital-picture.com/R...ns-Review.aspx Obviously there is no "one size fits all" lens but from what I've read this is a pretty good all rounder, covering the lower end of my kit lenses (18 - 55mm) while having a pretty decent zoom. The sort of thing you could have on the camera for everyday shooting or for when you're on the road and it's impractical to carry a bag full of lenses. Bear in mind mine is an older kit (400D) so none of my kit lenses are IS, so I image this will be a step up from them. Thoughts/comments/loves/hates/beers welcome. Cheers, Wrxpc |

I have it on my 350D.
It is a fantastic walk around lens. Great zooming ability. However, it is slow glass, and with the range of zoom, doesn't produce stunning pictures all the time. I used it for the rally pics as it was very handy not having to switch lenses depending on the type of shot wanted. But sucked ass at night taking pics!

Depends what you want it for mate.
for decent portraits, and good DOF, low light work not worth it this lens will fail in these. all it's good for is a basic walk around lens happy snap kinda stuff. but it comes back to what purpose you need it for. |

I want to bolt it onto my 400D and go travelling with it later this year. I won't have room for a bag full of lenses so i'm looking for something to take good tourist type shots. Lakes, mountains, wildlife etc.
"Hey look at tha cute rabbit" - click "Hey look at that wooly bear" - click "Aww look at the bear picking up the rabbit, isn't that cute?" - click "Hey is that bear using the rabbit to wipe his .. oh dear" - click You get the idea Cheers, Wrxpc |

Sorry for the very late response guys but thanks for the feedback. I'm going to go with this lens as the more I read about it the more I think it's what I want for this trip, and you guys have pretty much re-enforced what I was thinking.
Hopefully lots of holiday snaps to post up in a few months time Cheers, Wrxpc |
