Steve I've got a gopro, it does 720p wide angle and 1080p at normal angle, with a 4gb card on 720 you can get 4 hours of recording time. comes with waterproof housing and a bunch of STRONG double sided tape mountings and there is a bunch of other mounts you can get for it. I think its in the region of $3-400.

Just a quick update. I've finally managed to get the brace welded by a mate, and it's pretty much spot on. All I need to do now is get some longer screws to hold it in place, and work out what type of padding to use to protect the camera. Hopefully there won't be too much vibration through the frame when it's finished. I've included a few different shots just in case anyone else wants to try their hand at making something similar.
