Looking to purchase my first DSLR today (Probably the Canon 500 or 550d) so just asking which are the best shops to get a good deal.

Have been to the usual places, Harvey's, JB's, Camera House so just wondering if anyone can suggest somewhere else to try.

second that, talk to Paul at PRA. he's a good photographer himself so he knows his stuff, i've bought all my gear thru him after a dodgy incident with a grey import from the web.

Fast, and good service, well packed and their in Australia. 550D body $783 or 2 IS lens kit $1173. plus postage, but they don't charge the world for that.

Or just buy Soska stuff he's selling on here.

Soksta doesn't answer PM's.... I tried to buy his 50D off him, but I was ignored.

Anyway, I went to PRA imaging and spoke to them a couple of days ago, bought some lens filters etc... prices looked pretty good for speedlites too, so I imagine their camera prices would be competitive..

I went looking for an SLR last year and ended up at Plaza Camera's. Good advice and service and price matched as well.

Out of those two, go with the 550d mate. REALLY good HD video.

Seconded, i had the 550D and was very happy with it. It was my 1st DSLR but really easy to use.
