I haven't been in the photo game for very long so I don't know what happened historically but I have a lens that was just announced to be discontinued.
It's an excellent lens, great reviews and in high demand.
A new replacement has not been announced.
would this make the price go up or down in the used market?
I have been eyeing a replacement Leica lens anyway...

Notice, and agree with some of the comments, there's not alot of glass there (diameter wise) for what is a semi fish eye in the film camera world, even as an ef-s lens its 32-34mm which is fairly wide remembering that the human eye is considered = 50mm.

Expect a big company like Leica to produce/release something as good or better if the lens is popular. (ie its sells well, what do we sell it it goes)

MTF =micro four thirds.

To be honest can't see it going up. MTF hasn't really lived up to the hype, and will likely be superseded as processor technology evolves further IMO. In my mind it's akin to Minidiscs as a portable music medium.

Could be wrong though

Depends. Canon 'L' lenses for example hold their value pretty well. Bottom end stuff not so much.
