Need a little help from the Photography guru's..... After a new compact digital camera and wondering which is the best value for money sub $500? Been looking at the Samsung's but I'm a noob when it comes to cameras!

Any help would be appreciated.

I bought a Nikon J1 for $250 on sale the other week with a 10-30mm lens.

Will shit on anything in that price range and up towards 500 bucks.

I got a Sony DSC30V. We wanted something small to travel round europe with but also allowed a limited manual mode and the ability to have a reasonable high FPS to shoot moving objects.

Has been able to keep me happy with my limited skill and also the Mrs with some of the cool features like B&W and cartoon. Was mid $300 from JB if memory serves.

Fuji Xf-1.

I think thats the model number. ITs got a weird arrangement to switch it on... and not much zoom. But with a F1.8 lens and a large sensor. Its amazing for for a point and shoot.

If you can stretch the budget... Sony RX100. I have one of these. about $800. Huge 1 inch sensor and Zeiss F1.8 Lens.

The Sony RX100 can be found on eBay for around $500. Its one of the best small cameras as previously mentioned.
