Dash Cam
Hi guys, I'm after some feedback regarding a cheap dash cam to use. I don't really care so much for HD/GPS etc, so long as the picture is good enough to use in the case of an accident claim.
There are a gazilion cheap-cheap efforts on eBay, so was hoping someone has used one that they can recommend for me. Alternatively, if these really are that shit, if something like this is worthwhile: Uniden In Car Crash Cam iGo 320 - Dash Cameras - Cameras - Cameras, Printers & Stationery | Harvey Norman Australia Navman MiVue338 In-Car Camera - Dash Cameras - Cameras - Cameras, Printers & Stationery | Harvey Norman Australia I did a bit of searching but I couldn't find anything relevant in the last year or so, hence started this thread as technology moves pretty quickly. PM or msg on 0422 471 186. Cheers, Tom

Hey mate,
I recently invested in a transcend branded unit that was on clearance from msy technology in balcatta (also at cannington). It cost me $109, but the picture quality is a lot better than I expected. I got the "200" model. There was some footage posted on YouTube from this model, and for the price, it does the job. Your other option is to get one from gearbest.com, there are a few popular models on there with decent reviews for a cheap price. Sent from my Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Prime |

Nope not cheap, but you get what you pay for. I personally don't put a budget on insurance and peace of mind, but if your wallet dictates so, then so be it. Not only that, but its size and footprint means it sits behind your mirror, completely out of sight with no vision restrictions or constant adjustment or reattachment of suction cups that fall off in cold or hot weather, etc.

eBay for price, or pester Fabian @ Westside to get as close as possible to online price if you're impatient.

Good quality, but can't see plates that well, eg: the Black JEEP.
Blackvue Dw650gw https://www.facebook.com/DashCamOwne...3452608714379/ Quality is "pretty good", but wish they were a few more megapixels.

Thanks for the responses guys, I do appreciate the feedback! but as per the OP, what I am hoping for is a cheaper option. I have full comprehensive insurance, so for me this is more of a 'nice-to-have' rather than getting something top shelf...especially whilst saving for my house and wedding.
Has anyone (other than Goosey) had any experience with cheaper units?
