Default playing with my new lens..

bought a Canon 50mm F1.8 today for $130 from Gerry Gibbs.. haven't had a chance to play with it a huge amount yet but it looks like it has a lot of potential for how much it cost.

bit of a prick getting it to focus in low light tho

Excellent i am heading out to buy this lens on friday as well haha.
how do u find the fixed 50mm. do you notice the diffence with the low apature.

having a speelite flash even to have the flash not go off. but just to use the auto focus assist make a shit load of difference trying to focus in the dark

Dad has the same lens on his 20D and swears by it. He is in this camera club things and one of the experiments they do is clarity on lenses. The fixed 50mm wins everytime.

yeah prime lenses are the bomb because they have way less lens elements than a zoom lens, this mean less distortion and better sharpness etc. Its easier for companys to correct the barrel distortion in a prime lens too. The f1.8 makes for some mean bokeh eh?

I'm saving for the 50mm f1.4 prime as my lenses have to travel a lot and get thrashed, same image quality as the f1.8 but build quality is better. Costs about 500 more though

No...It is more like "I feel like a d#%khead. I sat on that beatiful lense in the cab in Singapore so I bought another one. Christ, I feel like an idiot for ruining such a bloody beautiful lense."

The 50mm f/1.4 is the ducks nuts if you think the 1.8 is good.

The detail the lens brings out is absolutely awesome. Great lens for portraits. If only I had a 1:1 digital camera *sigh*
