NVRENUF were those shot using a tripod, some of them look a little soft?

The post processed kids playground shot look better to me.

the bird was hand help. though the others were tripod.. though its 3 photos combined. with that hdr program. would that make it do that ?

HDR will can still be done sharp but it's a lot harder since u'r overlaying three shots. i find the easiest way to do this is use less shots (2) and go for a fast as possible shutter time. using a tripod is mandatory, although u can get away with it during the day using 2-3 shot bursts. saying that, it isnt that dofficult, just requires better technique on the tripod and a cable release if u have one.

Quick question, can you get the effect of focusing on a close object and bluring the background with a pritty standard point and shoot camera? If so/if not what do you use to do it?

Yeah at the momment still trying different thing learning what they do and where to improve. very hard to judge from the little lcd until u get home haha. and cbf taking laptop with me..

If the camera has an aperture priority mode (meaning u can set aperture) then set it as large as possible (ie f/2.8 as opposed to f/8).
