I've finally finished building up my TRF-416 /Ta-05 VDF clone.

I built it using a front motor mount like the Ta-05 VDF



These kits can be picked up uber cheap on ebay (around $100)...it comes as an unbuilt rolling chassis.

Let me say off the bat that the quality is pretty damn good for China spec!

The drive pulleys are set up to run a 1.7:1 ratio split front to rear, known as 'counter steer' gearing, the idea is that the rear tires are overdriven & therefore constantly slipping inducing a constant lack of rear traction.....well it is a drifter!



The smaller pulley on the left ^^ drives the front axle, it rides on a one-way clutch bearing......When I hit the brakes the rears lock & the front wheels coast, just like pulling the handbrake in a real car...lol!

I reckon this cheap knock off rocks! The fit & finish are spot on, the carbon is 3mm thick & the alloy components are perfect.

Had enough of your plastic drifter? I reckon it's worth considering one of these as a cheap upgrade, especially if you already have a radio, motor & batteries.

Well bugger me...it is!



2.4 Ghz, 3 channel, 10 model memory, dual rates (adjustable on the fly), travel adjust, exponential on all channels........a $41 bargain!!

Spare receivers are $4.99 on hobby king.....bargain! (and they're tiny!)

the chassis & components look mint, & that transmitter... what a bargain for 41bucks

got any links to e-bay listings of this ross, tried to search the tamiya model numbers but obviouslt they can't list them as that due to copyright, i'm keen to get one for only 100 bucks

Search for hy416 or carbon drift..... Ive saved the sellers but can't access eBay from work. I can post links tonight.
