Default WTB: Cheap manual car for rally

Hi guys, looking at getting into rally/autocross and I'm on the look out for a cheap manual transmission car to start off with.
I mean cheap as in > $1000, lic or not.

Thinking somewhere along the lines of an old celica, excel, 323, pulsar etc etc. If anyone has a cheap BMW (318) I would be willing to go higher than $1000 of course
Hoping to get something, completely gut the interior and everything I do need to get/keep it registered. Get a cage put in it, some good tyres, suspension and then go practice and see if rally is really something I want to commit some money to. Last thing I wanna do is learn the sport in an expensive car. I also don't want to buy a already built rally car (cheaper I know) because part of the whole experience for me is the build.

So, anyone got any cars they want to get rid of? Any pics? I'm strictly looking for a manual cars. RWD preferred, but most likely end up getting FWD.

PM me. Cheers

EDIT: Shit, sorry mods. I added this to the for sale instead of wanted section.

Not for sale, but so you get the idea...

Buy a Datsun.

But if I need to expand upon that, you've got a range from 120Y's through to 200B's, 240K's, or the Z range if you really wanted to go that. My choice would be from the 1600, 180 or 200 range. They all run an L series motor (different capacities obviously), but easily interchangeable. Would be classed as PRC3 (If I remember rightly), so you can run up to 2 litres in any of those three cars. Going for a 180 or 200 would be the best bet, as they're easier to come across then a 16, easily maintainable, can upgrade brakes to early model skyline series (disc front and rear), etc etc. If needed, can supply much more info in regards to Datsun crap.

For rallies, wouldn't you need a cage etc?

Also I thought there were regulations on what cars are eligible for what classes. I would hate to buy a 'cheap' car and then be thrown out in a highly competitive class, making it less enjoyable.

I would be starting my search the other way around... Look what class you want to compete in, find out what others in that class are using (usually a good indication that there are spares etc available for when you bin it), budget the total build to get the car ready to race and compare it to others already for sale. It may be 'cheaper' to spend more money on a car that is ready to race, than build one to race.
