ACA 2/2/10 'Search for the hoon drifter'

So did anyone else see this on ACA tonight (no I don't watch it, but mummy called and made me search for it )

Basically some guy drifting his S14 Silvia through the hills and ACA wants everyone to watch this and help identify the driver. They even managed to pull his license plates from the video and post that up. Now why they didn't just go to the police, but rather wanted to have him on tomorrow night's show interested me...

Ok... so the video seems a little too good for a usual youtube 'im a sikkunt' video. So a bit of searching results in the original video prior to ACA cutting it up...

So at the beginning of this video he not only is talking to the camera but also says his name.

AND he says "Hi everybody at Freehand... yadda yadda... I want to be the next Stig"...

Who is Freehand?

Oh look they are the production company for Top Gear Australia...

Which happens to be airing on Channel 9 this year...

Which happens to be the same station that shows ACA...

Which means they would have all his details just sitting there...

So why run the segment to "track him down"?

I did see the segment and the thought crossed my mind that it may have been done on closed roads. (Especially given ACA's record for factual and unbiased reporting) Possibly even during a sanctioned event.

Given the quality of the video it did look like a decent amount of effort had been made in it's production.

I wondered how they could possibly get away with this, Although it's been edited in a way to avoid any defamation, it's still just a load of sensationalist and false shit.

When 'Carlo' submitted the audition tape, for Top Gear he would have also sanctioned it's use in any 'promotional' events.

I guess using the outraged reactions of the genuinely retarded to boost the ratings of a failing show can be considered as 'promotional'

i reckon ch9 should stop searching youtube for people drifting and start reporting proper news... either that or give him some cash to get on a race track - some good drifts there to take out the competition

I dont like ACA. 'Hoon' story or not. It's a show based crosspromotion & fear, making everyone panic that it may happen to them or how dare they etc. Their 'shaky' camera & dramatic unfocused over-exaggerated re-enactments make me sick.

Had a friend of the family involved in a story a year or so ago - very welcoming & upfront with his story which they lapped up, but then started harassing him constantly all day and he got shitty at them. When the story aired it was suddenly turned AGAINST him & they used all the footage of him getting shitty & showed the other party's fabricated story.

Channel 9 in general can fuck off & die.
