PIGSTi, honestly mate if you have nothing worthwhile to say then please refrain from adding to your post count. I have searched, and I have been a member almost as long as you so I know full well on shitty threads which ask questions that have already been asked. I choose to read before posting, so if I have created a thread its for a reason. Sick of having to add a disclaimer to each thread to get you post whoring hounds from adding "do a search".

With that off my chest...

Yes this exhaust business is confusing me, so from the turbo is the dump -> uppipe -> cat -> catback?

I was under the impression the avo dump included the uppipe?

Up pipe is the one that goes from the headers to the turbo. On wrx's and foresters there is a cat in them but not on your sti. All you need is a dump pipe that will go from your turbo to the cat. You will also need a 3" cat.

hahaha You honestly couldn't find the answer to this question????? Your fukn kidding me right!

As for the exhaust question that came after the original post. It surely is common sense that a stock 'front pipe' is going to restrict your flow.

FWIW, just get a 3' midsection to do the rest of your zorst, fine for a AVO dump but pretty pricey for your needs IMO, there was a dump (not AVO) for sale a week ago 2nd hand which I'd go for. Likewise if you really want a FMI maybe look at the new ProcessWest units, a lot cheaper and pretty good quality, you may have to go with their CAI tho. Check with the verso boys as you may find you do not need a fuel pump either for your mods. This should give you a nice quick car around the 200 kw mark. I would wait for Verso IMO as its proven and extremely cost effective. All up 4K not bad?

Exhaust system flow:
Engine> exhaust mainfolds(aka headers)>single up-pipe (unless twin scroll turbo, which you ain't got)> turbocharger> Dump pipe (aka downpipe)> cat> rear muffler> tip of muffler = exhaust gas toi atmosphere.
For best performance you need a free flowing 3" aperture from the turbo to the tip. Leave from engine to turbo as is.

Forget the front mount intercooler...your top mount will be fine with the degree of mods you intend. Just make your waterspray auto.

Verso and ECUTek do the same thing...reliability is up to the tuner (as has been said ad infinitum on this forum)... ECUTek costs about $500 more than Verso (due to international licencing whilst Verso is a local product with no licencing fee to the tuner). Workshops providing these products in WA (1 x Verso, 2 x ECUTek) are all reputable.

Another option is to replace the whole ECU....best bang for buck is Autronic.

If tickling the tune it is VERY worthwhile to upgrade the fuel pump.

Im just going to choose to ignore you pig, you truely are a moron.

"I have a modded 03 wrx as listed in my sig.
I had a leak in my uppipe and changed the stock unit for an AVO one.
End result exactly the same power.

The standard unit is well made, but costs more than AVO's which is equal in quality.

infact if you look at one up close, unless you have a bug eye with the cat in the middle, its just a stright piece of pipe.
Hence no change in performance.

If it aint broke I would not change it."

That was the advice I was given couple months back when I was ordering, but if its as important as a couple of you have said I will go ahead and buy one.

Thanks for the info guys!

Read Nauli's post again noob. Did your car come with a stock 3"?

For best performance you need a free flowing 3" aperture from the turbo to the tip.
