Default Classic Cosworth F1 Video from the Turbo Era

Just finished watching this and it is all kinds of epic awesome, 2x TV shows of about 45 minutes each. Fantastic viewing if you're even remotely interested in old F1 tech or the goings on of Ford/Cosworth

Quote:
The videos below were originally broadcast on July 31, 1986 in the UK as part of a science and technology series called "Equinox". "Turbo: Once Around the Block" is a somewhat in depth look of the development, initial build process of the Cosworth GBA engine, and some of the issues Cosworth, Ford, and Motorola had with getting the engine up and running. It is more in depth than any video you'll see from Honda, Renault, or Ferrari. But then again, Ford probably had the most money in the 80's to assist in video production costs for television coverage.

The original Blog I got them from

And an article by the same blogger on the Cosworth motor (The GBA)

The blog is written by a rather well known tuner in the US by the name of Eric Hsu, who has worked for XS Engineering, Apexi etc and now resides at Cosworth. He also is the tuner for the Sierra Sierra time attack team.

You'll also get to witness a very young, very nerdy Ross Brawn...

Was very interesting to see it all.... sat watching them with the jester and was well entertained by some of the lack of occupational health and safety.... a.k.a: motor revving at 10,000+ rpm for minutes at a time with guys standing less than a foot away wearing a tie and no ear protection etc

Very interesting look into the past. Things have certainly changed.

Also interesting to see the injectors on the V6 are pointed upstream. No idea why.
