Yeah looks like SOHC, maybe you can swing bigger cams with a follower/rocker system....less spinning inertia, maybe less drag also than DOHC !

Maybe the yanks weren`t bullshitting with there built 10,000 rpm capable SOHC engines !

Love the gas work on that engine, most likely a methanol engine too...

Jason,

Disregard everything the Yanks are telling you if your trying to apply it to the differences between the Aussie MY 99/00 WRX's and STi's. They never got them and would know Sweet FA when it comes to these years.

If we are talking inlet manifolds and attached ancillaries there is no differences between the 00/00 STi's and WRX's - bar the Red Crinkle Coat Paint.

Inlet Manifold - Same
Yellow 440cc Side Feed Injectors - Same

Your Wasting your Money - Spend it on a Silicon Y-Pipe to go from the Turbo to Intercooler to remove a major restriction.

You cant tell me that the built a standard motor then forge another one in the motor room at subie. Then when it comes to bolting all the other gear they just paint one red... Now has anyone ever had one side by side and looked inside them????

I say go for it mate you will be the first one to find out. You might start a new mod trend hahahaha you never know...

you don't think in the 13 years since the STI has existed no ones ever looked at the two side by side? grab a clue. The inlet manifold is identical. It is literally just some paint. On most models there are differences in the injectors, the TGV, the inlet pipe, Y pipe, turbo, and intercooler of the WRX model vs the STI, but the inlet manifold is same same

I had 4 different inlet manifolds side by side on the weekend, just FYI

So you think everyone should just get a normal wrx instead of STi? Save abit of money on the inlet manifold? yeaa the turbos also * slightly * different but looks identical

Apparently there is a difference between the GDB WRX and GDB STi BOV also ..

Didn't know that ...

http://www.rexnet.com.au/forum/index...843&hl=STi+BOV

Don't think there is a performance difference though?
