in her defence, searching for "radar detector" just turns up a whole list of for sale threads.

The only useful thread on the first search results page is ajayjay's thread. Anyone would miss that thread that is buried under the 20 other for sale threads.

And in regards to the ads at the top of the page, is it just me or do i just automatically ignore most ads on pages?

tuna, how is my wiki idea coming along?

You can search individual forums, I know I'd search the 'Technical' section or maybe try the 'General' section as well to make sure none of the for sale ones show up.

But thats just me.
