You were going to replace a gearbox without even looking at the oil/gizzards first?

Give it to Doug for a couple of days, have it inspected, go from there. Win.

Brent.

at least get doug to put some new fluid in there, can make quite a difference if it hasn't been done for a while

I'm onto it guys. No point rushing into buying something when it may just be a transfer bearing that needs changing.

Is that the one I'm looking at this Thursday?

I'm hoping it's just a transfer bearing in both cars. It saves stripping the entire gearbox and I've seen a few fail. It's certainly not common, but it seems to be the bearing in those 5 speeds that makes noise most often.
