Default Wanted: P20 exhaust housing

As per title....Chasing a P20 exhaust housing.

The p18 on the vf34 currently is way too small, leading to spool up compressor surge.....It builds boost too quick ha ha!

I also have 1.25 bar of awesome boost creep @ redline......WITH the waste-gate wide open.

Alternately I'd be interested in a swap for a TD05-18g in good nick.

Let me know what ya got guys....I want to get this thing Done & Done.

ross, how are you plumbing up your boost control?

plumb the compressor nipple straight to the wastegate (ie. 8psi) and take it for a blat.

if you dont spike over 8-9psi (or whatever your factory gate runs at) it wont be boost spike and more likley going to be the boost control hoses are too long, or a boost control setting (aim/etc)

Hey Stace!

Originally I had the system set up as stock, stock boost pill in place & the power FC controlling the boost..... The initial issue was severe compressor surge @ 3300 rpm WOT (at about 1.15 bar)....Target boost was set to 1.35 bar (which it held from 3800rpm), eventually creeping to 1.44 bar by 7000 rpm.

Reducing wastegate duty delayed the surge to 3600rpm but lead to a soft mid-rpm boost maximum of about 1.1 bar......Creeping to 1.44 by redline.

Removing the boost control (ran a hose from comp housing direct to the w/gate (no boost pill)) see's .62 bar 2600-4300 then it creeps to 1.25 bar loaded up in 3rd @ 6000 & 1.44 bar @ 7000

I've had to go to a stand alone EBC (HKS EVC 4) - with no boost pill & It is better.

I am fooling the EBC by running a bit of offset to slow the boost ramp rate down low & setting an overboost trip point fairly low so it reverts to gate pressure & then letting it ride the boost creep.....

Not real safe but I am using the PFC for overboost protection (set to trip @ 1.5 bar)

Thoughts?

try the shorter hoses, remove the pills (like youve done!)

are any compensations kicking in at the redline? what BTDC timing are you at up there?

hoses are less than 10cm at the moment

Timing is currently 19-21 degrees >6k rpm.

I'll post my current timing map in a sec.

I have a HKS solenoid Gav.....The solenoid isn't the issue, exceeding the capacity of the internal wastegate combined with a small exhaust turbine is....

Stace here's the current timing map:
(the yellow cells indicate a map trace from a recent log- this is with the standalone EBC tripping to gate pressure from 3600 rpm & up)
