Isn't this a known issue with the vf34? Doesn't happen to all of them, but don't most people just open up the wastegate port a bit?

I was running a VF29 on this motor before fitting the 34....It has the same exhaust turbine, housing & wastegate & there was no issue.

I realise the 34's compressor is 1mm bigger but I didn't expect to run into the issue I have.

I get compressor surge in 4th and 5th when at lowish revs and booting it. I heard there was a difference between some vf34's. Some had a smoothed rear housing near the flapper and others had a knife edge. The ones with the knife edge caused bad surge to. Can grind them with a dremel.

Even still the high rpm boost creep points towards needing a P20 size exh housing.

why not run a little more boost (1.6?)

at redline, the vf34 will taper down to that anyway.
