Mafless will require full aftermarket ecu.

Home made cai = pvc pipe and some imagination.

You can get bovs that are plumb back and still make shit noises if you are so inclined.

thought as much from other threads...

Righto, i thought pimpreza meant some kind of guard for an aftermarket cai...
i'd prefer just to buy one that was designed to fit

like 50% plumb back 50% atmo venting? pretty sure gfb do one like that, i assume that design has less effect on air/fuel mixture than 100% atmo

I'd be more worried about the effect it has on your AFR's and engine life, rather than fuel consumption.

Also, how much time off can you get when you get yellow stickered for it?

it's a GC8 - run a bleed valve and have a great time

Remember ping = powa
Kato and V3 RA like this.

I replaced my standard BOV with an aftermarket plumb-back GFB one that gives about 50% the fast & furious-ness.
Didn't affect fuel at all either.

Do the in guard in take to the factory box. You'll notice alot more 'whoosh' off throttle without being stupid noticeable and without alerting the authorities everytime you change gears. Atmo bov's are awesome but they get attention and unless you tune with it accordingly make matters worse for the engine in general.

CAI

Mine
Going from the box to the guard, about 1m of 90mm PVC pipe, 1x90deg elbow, 1x27deg bend, hack saw, heat gun, silicone or pipe glue and a couple of large cable ties, costs about $25-35.

Going from bottom box into the guard, bell mouths are easily made and recommended for less disruptive airflow.

Bell mouth going to AFM (air flow meter) improves air flow and were used on early Subaru rally cars then banned according to MMS

Ignore the 45deg, it can be straight or have the bend near the bottom, I did it to make it more difficult for water to enter, it's been on for 6yrs now.

Joshiemitsu likes this.
