I reckon it would be a good thing, a set of rally struts I have are fitted with grease nipples and it works well. Proper shock grease is expensive though, the DMS stuff is $180 for a small tin.

Yep, I recekon the $180 stuff is something else in a different can. There's some discussion on various forums as to what works in shocks. Don't get confused with shock oil though, that's for the damper section of (predominantly motorcyle) shocks. You need grease for the shaft section of the shock. Think of it as a linear bearing/bush.
