Italics suggests sarcasm.

Cosworth long block from the states for that power. If money isn't a issue however.

Asking for a 400KW engine is a big ask with a Subaru engine. It can be done, but as previously said you are going to 'want' to spend a decent sum of money on top quality parts to ensure longevity. What do you want that kind of power for? Is it for drag racing? Or just bragging rights?
Why does the builder have to be in Perth? Does it really matter where the motor gets built? It may cost slightly more in courier costs, but give Tony Knight a call over in SA. Great guy & happy to chat over the phone about what to use & what not to use. Knight Engine Reconditioning - (08) 8376 9540

400kw EJ Subaru won't have longevity even if it's built by Jesus himself.
And, it won't be any good to drive either. My advice, shoot for no more than 280-300kw at the wheels. It'll still cost as much but it'll be just as fast (if not faster) in all conditions except well prepared dragstrip racing and it'll last for a decent amount of time. Gav, comment not directed at you. I quoted yours as a reference to engine dyno only. I knew it was tongue in cheek. It seems to be a UK thing, quoting inflated flywheel figures. |

I was not trying to say a 400kw would last 300,000k's Doug, but I was trying to imply that careful consideration should be put into acquiring the correct pars & ensuring the parts are assembled correctly, to allow the engine to last as long as it possibly can.
I agree with you that a 300kw engine would be more responsive in the lower areas of the rpm range & be more fun to drive around the street. But, if the guy wants the motor built to get as quick down the quater as he can, it may not be as well suited.

Judging by the OP's avatar. Im pretty sure he is a serious dude that does heaps of legitimate dyno racing.

Needs gull wing doors to complete the look. I remember seeing that car on gumtree at some stage and regurgitated my dinner.
