No problems with spending as little as possible, BUT
You get to see some amazing stuff when your out and travelling, and you may not get back to the same spot, or if you do, it wont be the same. Buy the best you can afford, and put the camera in a good camera bag, Lowepro etc with a water proof cover, which acts as a dust protector in the bag as well. Or look at a an upper end pocket camera, with a big zoom. I travel with my 7D and a 100-400mm lens attached. Got some really nice shots of some dingos and another of some wedge tailed eagles, others on the trip couldnt get. Its also the same I use, (plus a shorter lens) for my rally photography. (Protected from dust with an old umbrella skin to act as a dust cover.) Just my 2 cents worth.

Thanks Mike but I cant trust Dad with your camera :P
Jeckle: Yeah I used to do photography as a business many years ago but since he is going in about 1 months time, I wont have enough time to teach him everything he needs to know. Many of the nights he will be camping and in freezing conditions so I dont want to get him something that is too expensive just to get ruined. He has a P&S but has already outgrown it. Ive already got him all the accessories to take away... except the camera and lens.

It says $322 on the homepage and at the bottom. Don't know why it says $358. Last edited by 09betty; 24-04-2013 at 11:47 PM. |

I have my Canon 600D which has 21mpx of goodness and a twin lens kit (18-55mm and 55-250mm) would be the perfect travel package
