Dave - have you considered twin scroll instead...VF 36/37/42?

I have and that's the direction I'm going on Betty should I decide on a turbo change!

Time will tell if I get some ecu learning with the new mods installed. Max torque of 422 Nm achieved at 3100 rpm and max 230 hp at 4750 hp.

Will post some pictures and dyno chart when I have time today.
Clearly this loss has nothing to do with intake temps, humidity levels or fuel discrepancies etc.
The turbulent airflow through the restrictive stock intake is what makes real power

Actually, its a pretty common fact on American* NA forums that replacing the Subaru airbox with a siliycoon intake consistantly results in less torque. Seeing as Horespower is a mathmatical equation based on torque and revs, that will also drop

*Note: might just be Americans

One thing that was pointed out to me today. I am running with no engine cover which also has a built in i/c shroud. This means the air going thru the scoop is not all hitting the i/c. Getting the dremmel out this arvo when I get home and fitting the cover again to see what difference it makes. Its also got tuned by sti # on it which should be good for a few extra ponies!

New intake set up

A short update after driving the car with new intake set up this past weekend.

Intake temps in general dropping quicker after start up than with the previous airbox set up. Power delivery is much smoother and stronger thru the rev range now as well. Noise is obviously much greater with this set up as well. In fact it sounds like it could suck in small animals and children now when at wot

Also reinstalled the stock engine cover which has a built in i/c shroud. I believe this should improve performance to some degree (in theory) but really need another power run on the dyno to confirm this.

I doub't you'd see a difference on the dyno, logging inlet temps on actual road driving would probably show it up more

I have bought some 17" sti rims and they will be going on this weekend for test fit then respray from gold to black then back on the car for drags.

Also have the car going back into to ASG next Wednesday for installation a different waterspray tank (Thanks Gav) and controller. Also a bit of trimming shaping of the i/c shroud on the engine cover which hopefully makes a for nice tight fit and improvement of airflow over the i/c.

Also have Andrew (Hybridgx) doing a full 8 stage buff job on the car next week as well.

Aim is to have already for WAW on Nov 11th.
