As there's no ram effect with vehicle stationery why would it make a big difference between bonnet open or closed with top mount ?

Not much air makes it into the scoop even with the dyno fans on, you really need the car to be moving to make it work right, or have one of those things which some places have that plugs right onto the TMIC.

the guy at the front desk, not abdus, really didnt have a clue why and he works there. I wouldnt think it matters at stationary....he reckoned that they may attach sensors to the engine, i think he was talking S*#t to be honest

Oh man. They have massive fans that sit in front of the car which creates alot of air flow over the radiator and the topmount intercooler. As if your traveling at 80km/h or somesuch. Seriously i have tested this. When my car was on the dyno at ASG they had the bonnet closed. The massive fan was on and the air was going straight accross the bonnet and then dirceted down onto the intercooler. You could see the marks from small dirt and water being pushed accross the bonnet and into the scoop. This then cools the charge air and makes the TMIC a functioning part of te car.

With the bonnet open the air hits the radiator but goes straight past the intercooler.

How hard can it be for you to understand this?

Yeah i get you Russ .. I've seen some pretty pissy fans used from time to time. How good is Tenagah's? Do they come with the dyno, or do they go out and buy some random fan and put it on wheels.

You pretty much need a commercial/industrial based HVAC fan which is pushing some SERIOUS air for it to work efficiently. Preferably for tuners doing a lot of WRX, should have not only the front fan, but perhaps a smaller based fan which can channel the air down a duct which sits on top of the TMIC with the bonnet open.

In reality for a base line dyno run, i can live with the bonnet open or closed
If you're tuning it, then i would be more critical
As long as its run at the right gear, and the temp probe not phucked with i would be reasonably happy

I dont know whether everyone here is going a bit overboard with the dyno figures and what should be done or not done
Perhaps calling Tenagah to verify and Abdus can put his 2 cents worth

Im not saying Abdus and the guys dont know what they are doing! Far from it! Im just wanting clarification on wether or not it would make a difference to not only the power figure but also engine safety. As i assume not many people are sitting in 4th gear with full boost and full power whilst not moving anywhere with no cooling of charge air. That will be alot of hot air! Hence the invention of a intercooler.
