Thanks guys for the comments,

Yep for now I've got all 3 at home - not for long though...

Currently I think my favourite ride is still the Legacy, it's the fastest of the lot and still a really smooth and not too loud system for something that has ran 260K. The WRX was a good deal so was hard to pass up and is new fun - handles like a dream.

I gave it an upper engine cleaner session tonight and took it for a run - it's getting smoother and feels like it's almost there. So I wanna take off the IACV and clean it out good but 1 screw was rounded off.. too hard basket for a late evening job. I also noticed there is a one way value on the factory boost controller - likely to be there to stop boost cut - I know that on my Legacy when I had that the revs were a little jerky too. So I may take that off too and give it a try.

Still wasn't running as good the next day - this morning I took off the one way valve going to the boost solenoid and noticed it was unplugged from the vacuum line... so that would cause some of the jumpiness. It's running smoother, but I still want to clean IACV and maybe replace AFM so it gets totally sorted!
