Default Camerons MY99 WRX

So, I finally got it. After 13 years of dreaming and saying 'one day I will drive the same car as Colin McRae does!' I have a GC8 WRX.

Name:	camcar.jpg
Views:	582
Size:	20.2 KB
ID:	4894

I will have some proper photos this weekend. Need a bit of touchup work done on it first.

The Details:
  • Subaru Impreza WRX MY99 Sedan.
  • 173,000KM's.
  • Midnight Blue
  • Stock 16" 5 Spokes
  • 2.5Inch Exhaust (Not currently sure what make it is).
  • K&N Air Filter
  • BlowOff Valve (DPI Approved in 2003, with Paperwork to prove).

The Problems:
  • No Heatshield on the Turbo
  • Passenger side foglamp is smashed
  • Slight rocker-cover leaking
  • Stereo HeadUnit is malfunctioning.
  • Some speakers dont work
  • Sideskirt and Front Bumper a little loose/wobbly.
  • Window Tinting on passenger side severly peeled.

Whats being done about it.
  • Service at STechnic next Monday (Big Ups to Doug, hes been a huge help!)
  • Tint-a-car this week for Midnight Express.
  • MatCraft Mats on Friday - Black with Navy Blue trimming and WRX Logos (Front and Back)
  • New Badges ordered to fix the de-badge. Chrome ones like on the later WRX's.
  • New Pioneer HeadUnit from Repco, a mid-range one that allows you to choose its back-light colour (setting to blue obv).

Put a stocky BOV back on - You'll get your nice fuel economy back.
I have run no heatshield for a while. Can't say i've really noticed a problem, but good to get one back on i guess.

Rocker cover seal is the major issue i reckon. Can you smell it burning on the exhaust yet? I wonder how the rear main seal is holding up. Do you know if the clutch has been replaced at all?

Looks like a very tidy GC8 though.

Cant smell any burning - drives beautifully, no noises or crunching at all.
No idea about the clutch - No service history in the car, I hope its at the dealership still. The dealers moved it to another yard for me so its possible it was just left at the original yard.

It is VERY tidy on the inside - like new actually! Has a nice blue/black weave pattern in the seats which I wasn't expecting.

Congrats mate! Few minor issues to be expected on a GC8 mate.
