That's what I thought.

The gauge I bought is full wide band and came with the wide band sensor (I had to order it in from the states).

Half is the exhaust is at the shop but here's the photo from the Ultrex website.

The Dump Pipe has two bungs on it. One near the turbo end and one between the Cat and the Resonator. The Up pipe has got one bung on it, and a potential second one highlighted in blue.

Where abouts do the O2 sensors need to be plugged in? On the Dump Pipe or Up-Pipe?

I vaguely remember reading something about having them plugged as close to where the exhaust gases are leaving the block as possible. Or am I getting mixed up with something else?

Yeah narrow band, might aswell get fitting welded to your dump pipe while its off the carso that the wind band sensor just screws in

the up pipe contains the factory af sensor, the plug before the cat contains the factory o2 sensor, best place to put it would be on the dump pipe.

Sorry for a double post i just saw the picture

I would not bother installing the up-pipe that came with that kit, also I've not seen an o2 sensor in an uppipe on a GC before?
I would put the factory sensor back in the factory location next to the dump
I would put your fancy wideband sensor in the second location before the cat, should make the wiring easier to get to through the gear shifter opening, and as you aren't tuning the lambda lag should be a huge issue.

I think some later models have dual o2 sensors either side of the cat to warn of its failure but the GC8 is too old for that sophistication

That info would of been helpful before I dropped the up pipe in at CIC. Oh well I'll run it and if it fails then I'll get a different one.

Fair enough. I've never done anything with 02 sensors before so literelly had no idea which part of the exhaust to stick it in.

Makes sense.

Good to know.

Thanks for your help. I'm planning on installing all the gauges at the same time as the exhaust, as I'm obviously going to be doing the AFR gauge then. When the stuff arrives back from coating and I've picked a day to install I might be shouting out for help from some people.

Got a call from CIC today. My exhaust bits are ready to pick up. Exactly one week from when I dropped them off. Might even have time to drop in on my way home from work if I leave early enough.

Fitment will be waiting for a free weekend. Will be on the track in November, might come up and watch tomorrow night though.

Made it in to CIC after work and picked up the headers, up pipe and dump pipe all freshly coated in double black outside and flameproof on the inside.

Can't wait to install the exhaust now.
