just picked this up tonight, stock except for an alarm, dash mat & a cannon - sounds really awesome! and looks just as good up close as it does in the pics.

was a one owner car except for the last 4 months & it shows! the only interior wear is on the steering wheel
stock everything including the 6stack cd player.

first mod is to get rid of the tail lights, but other mods will be very slow unfortunately, but luckily she's a sweet drive as it is - goes surprisingly hard :o
not bad for 8.2k i rekon :)

REXXXED 17-02-2012 09:24 PM

Cheap cheap. How many Kms??
Few cosmetic mods and you will be winning!
STI headlights and dark reflectors would be the second thin I'd do after the tail
Lights

Onerex 17-02-2012 09:27 PM

de-badge and de-sticker the boot FTW.

Mike 17-02-2012 09:37 PM

^^+1 - What's with the V6 STi sticker?

Clean looking car otherwise - Definitely a good buy at $8k. 01/02?

98kellrs 17-02-2012 09:37 PM

Nice pickup and good thinking with the tail-lights! Needs moar scoop though.. stock one looks puny on that bonnet.

norwest_rumbler 17-02-2012 09:46 PM

kms are high at 288 the first owner who had it for over 11yrs lived in bunno & owned the liquor store in margs so its done alot of highway kms - hardly a chip or scratch on it tho.
so if the bumper/bonnets been sprayed it was an excellent job.
going give that owner a call & find out what has been done to it, cause it shows no signs of being tired/burning oil etc
its a my01

jasonmurray 17-02-2012 09:48 PM

Nice buy!!! Make sure you dont stop modding!

norwest_rumbler 17-02-2012 09:50 PM

thanks, dont worry mods will come! vf34, ecu, exhaust etc etc :)

just found the receipt from the people i bought it off when they bought it from bunbury subaru in sept last year, they paid 11k.

Master D 17-02-2012 09:52 PM

awesome cant wait to see it!

ImPreSiV 17-02-2012 09:57 PM

all the gumtree trawling you do finally payed off!

kid 17-02-2012 10:04 PM

Scanning through the OP, all i was looking for was this:
You passed the test.

LOL, and the sms lowballing!

ImPreSiV 17-02-2012 10:13 PM

looks like a pretty clean example mate. Loose those stickers everywhere, and the badges off the boot. Get yourself some foglight covers, STI grille / headlights and stock lights (which I see you're trying to do already) and then just sort out some rims for it (Rota GB - do it!!) and you'll have a great car for less than $10k! Then start saving your pennies for a new engine and 6spd when what you have eventually dies!

norwest_rumbler 17-02-2012 10:24 PM

yeah, it is very clean (inside & out), happy to keep it stockish looking & sti headlights cost a bomb anyway.
ive allways been more interested in engine mods than cosmetic stuff.

cheers

Sethi3 17-02-2012 10:34 PM

Agreed with everyone about the lights and stickers (especially them)

Avalanche 18-02-2012 12:44 AM

munya 18-02-2012 10:10 AM

That is a real tidy bug but has the crap ratios like mine did before the 5 speed gave up the ghost still drove hard with a few mods enjoy

silver_opal 18-02-2012 10:57 AM

Cool, another bug on the forum. Enjoy and defs a good buy. :D

norwest_rumbler 17-06-2012 08:32 PM

some updates, bought and fitted a genuine sti wing but i removed & sold it (the thing weighed a tonne & i wasnt happy with it)
got new rota's
fixed the digitial clock
removed the snorkus (made a very minimal difference to the sound)
got a walbro, will fit it when electrical plug arrives
got a link 44s in the mail will arrive anyday now.
got a catless uppipe but i cbf fitting it so going to farm that job out.

still havent removed the sti stickers yet - my kids wont let me lol

Master D 17-06-2012 08:38 PM

Nice, tidy lookin bug buddy! Needs some slammage!

norwest_rumbler 17-06-2012 08:49 PM

yeah would look better another 1" lower for sure, but too much other stuff i want to do-
tune
new turbo
new dump
better exhaust (exhaust sounds awesome now but not ideal for bigger turbo)
dewing with welded up holes or complete new boot.

knowing me i will probably get some of this done & then sell it..

when i dont have a toy to work on i go crazy & when i do have one i cant find any time to work on it..

Rossco 17-06-2012 08:49 PM

A bug that thinks it's a V5 STI coupe?

keen for link 44 & TD06 results.

Have you put a rear swaybar into it yet?

norwest_rumbler 17-06-2012 08:58 PM

ahh i didnt know those stickers were used on the coupe.

yeah, going to be a long wait for the full mods to appear.

got 3 options -fitting the catless uppipe, tune & maxing out the 440 injectors & td04

or waiting much longer for tune, td06 & bigger injectors.

or fitting tdo6 getting tune with the 440s & retune later for bigger squirters

norwest_rumbler 17-06-2012 08:59 PM
Have you put a rear swaybar into it yet?
nope

Master D 17-06-2012 09:01 PM

Needs 24mm Rear Swaybar with rear links.

will make it as much fun in the corners as it will be in a straight line!

Brett Allan 17-06-2012 09:06 PM

Nice bug mate :)

looks very tidy...

look forward to your future plans..

PS...what did you do to fix the clock (PM if you like :) )

huggy_b 17-06-2012 09:08 PM

24mm rear swaybars are for fancy people with their purses full of money driving their fancy STi's...........us commoners with WRX's stick to what the kind folks at Subaru provided us with.

I believe you would be better off getting a new boot rather then welding the holes up as if the wrong person welds them u may be faced with more warps then you would hope for. But you no doubt already know that

norwest_rumbler 17-06-2012 09:22 PM

yeah i know about the welding issue - theres 6 decent sized holes to fill so another boot is the best option.
cheers

We'll see if you can keep pace with the white whale at Collie sweetness! Might even keep the stock swaybars to give you a chance......:p

Much <3 Dave

P.S. On a serious note, if you have the cash and inclination, upgrade the swayybars NWrumbler - it helps with cornering immensley.

Spence 17-06-2012 09:29 PM

Yeah bud you can still buy a the brand new boot lids for the bugs nice rig by the way

norwest_rumbler 17-06-2012 09:32 PM

will definately take the rear bar upgrade seriously, (especially if i ever get back out on the track) but too much other car stuff to save up for this year unfortunately

norwest_rumbler 17-06-2012 09:35 PM
Yeah bud you can still buy a the brand new boot lids for the bugs nice rig by the way
was thinking of pricing one up but going to spend $ on go instead of show.

guessing 5 or 600 plus paint for a boot?

Spence 17-06-2012 09:59 PM

Bout 300 to paint and I think the boot lids are only a few hundred so allow 600 for the lot.
