I know roughly what is wrong now after talking to fats..... and videos will be posted and they will involve the car going in circles

give me some time

I told fats what was happening and he is pretty sure it is the afm and isc that are playing up and because jws is a bit of a journey I'd rather take it to stechnic now and if the afm is at fault he said he would supply me with another.

since this morning it has been running really well which is suprising cosidering earlier it would barely start , before I got it scrutineered I filled up the tank again... drove it to tokyo motorsport, and it passed btw and I've been driving it most of the day and it has not stalled, sputtered, left a cloud of smoke or lost power...... it's actually been quite fun and I also took my mother out for a quick drive and it's safe to say I scared the shit out of her My brother is next.

so for now it is good but I will still get it checked properly before racewars.

Wait, you're driving around (and not driving gently either) in a car that has a suspected intermittent AFM problem?
Riiiight.

I had to take it to be scrutineered and I am driving it gently, I haven't even got out of third gear yet.

And you scared the shit out of her at 60km/h? Were you swerving all over the road or something?

Where's Tokyo motorsport?
How do you legally get there travelling at 60km/h?

going from first to second scared her, she doesn't like turbo powered cars.

Tokyo Motorsport is in welshpool so I went down albany highway then welshpool road which are both 60km/h alright.

I'm just asking Cat. Not having a go.
I hate to see you damage it after all this money.

Wheel speed isn't an issue, it's RPM's that's going fuck your motor.
A gear change from 1st to 2nd at <2000rpm is hardly scary. Just saying.

No worries I'll try not to drive it until I get it sorted just incase something goes bang and remember I'm only used to driving an rx impreza so changing gears in it now is a little scary for me but also fun

A new AFM for one of these things is around $720, it would be worth your while and going down to Dick Smiths or similar and getting some contact cleaner and undoing your air filter box and giving the little electrical element that sits in the box behind the filter housing a spray, it's probably just picked up some dirt whilst sitting around.

My AFM did the same thing just after my conversion and from then on I made it a habit to spray it every 3 months, it lasted about 5 more years before the plug died and I had to replace it, it's about the only thing on my car that has let me down.

Just don't let it turn into another war between garages if STechnic find something majorly wrong...we don't need another one of those threads after the last one!!

This morning I got some foaming air intake cleaner would I be able to use that or would the contact cleaner be better ? and if It's just a bit of dirt causing the problem that would be great but knowing my luck there will be other issues.
