...unless you live 398M away from home it may be a little impractical to live with.

I had a thought, has the fuel pump been out and looked at? I have seen in other cars, the wiring inside the tank wear away the insulation. I'm assuming if this happens it could cause the relays to overheat and fry? Worth a look in any case.

Fuel pump has been looked at and changed but I'll just leave it to the guys now to figure out what's wrong with it.

Bit of a funny moment though, this morning I tried to start it but nothing so I got it towed and as soon as it was off the truck Doug jumped in and started it first go.......it's official my car hates me

Best thing you can do is leave it with Doug, sooner or later it will fault and he'll sort it. My god you deserve some luck tho!

at the end of the day its an old car, there will always be little niggles like bad connections from old plugs, failing sensors, shit breaking etc etc etc its all part of the fucking fun i recon, keeps you guessing once you have it running right & you may have some hiccups on the way, you will love it to bits

the old dinosaur in my avatar went through about 5000 litres of coolant locating and fixing all the leaks it had when i first got got, starting from radiator -> waterpump -> than about 18 bloody heater hoses under the intake plenum/manifold, had the thing off & back on about 4 times, great fun, then there was the blown turbo gasget so had to tear down that side of the motor too, then the old chestnut "whilst this is off i'll replace that" so threw in new timing belt/pulleys,turbo's, manifolds, dumps, front mount, but that moment after taking it for a test drive & it wasn't dripping green fluid from anywhere... well that feeling is just priceless
