'93 RS Wagon
Hello everyone,
This is a long overdue intro, previously known as psp_andy, but have now changed to my current username. I am 19 from Perth, currently studying at UWA computer science and economics, and working casual at DHL Express to have a bit of moolah to throw around. I previously owned BALISTC's old daily driver, a '96 subaru impreza. It was my first car and was very reliable and good to me. However, it was extremely slow and when you turned the aircon on it turned the 0HP it started with to -10HP. So I wanted a bit more power. After a year of owning the impreza, I sold it and purchased a '93 RS Liberty wagon off xeon: I've owned it for about 5 months now, and have added a few mods to it. The list of mods it had when I bought it: - Stock Liberty GT Engine - Turbosmart eBoost2 - 3" Turbo Back Exhaust - '05 WRX 4pot front brakes/2pot rear brakes (new rotors + pads on front) - Tein Type HR Coilovers in the front/Standard struts with lowered springs in the rear. - 17" 05 WRX wheels - 20mm Whiteline Rear Sway Bar - 22mm Whiteline Front Sway Bar - '02 WRX bucket seats and I have now added: - Walbro fuel pump - Bosch HEC716 coils - VOS chip - Mesh grill - Front lip Possible future mods will be: - fixing the extremely annoying heat shield rattle - sound deadening the front doors - maybe a respray as the paint is shite currently, clear coat coming off here there and everywhere - FMIC Thanks for reading! |

Another Liberty wagon. Good stuff mate, I own one too.
20mm rear and 22mm front swaybar though? Hoping it's the other way around. |

Thanks man!
Ah, I've never actually checked under the car, that description is just taken from the for sale ad, what is bad about having a thicker bar at the front? |

I've read on RSLC the 22mm up front contributes to under steer issues ...
There was a seller on eBay last week flogging new whiteline 22mm fronts for $150 . 20mm front appears to be the popular choice along with the adjustable 22mm rear. Sweet bus Andy, hope to see you when we all meet up next. |

Wouldn't a thicker front swaybar promote understeer?
I've created a rear bias which works well on my Liberty. |

IMO, thick front bar will decrease understeer by pushingdown front wheel. Coilover's job is to prevent body roll, so it will fulfill swaybar 's job, adding stiff swaybar will just decrease tyre's contact area and create understeer.
PS: c u at UWA! Andrew

Quote:
"A swaybar is a simple torsion bar that opposes body roll by linking the suspension movement of the wheels at one end of the vehicle. The stiffer/thicker rear swaybar increases the load on the outside rear tyre during cornering. This reduces the adhesion of that particular tyre so the rear-end of the vehicle becomes more unstable, offsetting some of the WRX's inherent understeer. Second - assuming a reasonable amount of chassis rigidity - a stiffer rear 'bar will also result in slightly less roll at the front of the vehicle. This better distributes the cornering loads on the front tyres, partially relieving the tortured outside front tyre. The third benefit of increased rear roll stiffness is more consistent alignment angles due to reduced suspension travel."
