lol, gg idiot.

Ok so not a whole lot has happened in the last few months, what with working weeks away, alcohol, a broken sternum, and trying to be an adult and pay off some debts, just about fuckall has been achieved on the car.

A few little things have happened though. Picked up gear from Russ. The air pump block off plate that I wanted him to re-drill, he once again ignored my request and did it properly... made a whole new one instead. Original on the left, russ-spec on the right. I think I might have even attached it to the engine (pretty sure I didn't)

My brake rotors returned, all anodised and sexy. I'm really happy how they turned out. I'm a bit embarrased now to bolt the old rusty bolts back to it, so I will probably hit them with the wire brush.

My ORC ceramic twin plate rocked up. nom nom nom

Now my other drama was the inlet manifold. Since the dawn of time I have wanted to clean one up and spray it with VHT wrinkle red for that OEM STI look. I purchased the appropriate cutting / grinding discs and took a few of the unused lugs and shit off it, cleaned it up. I sat there for about 2 hours with masking tape masking off all the OEM machine bits and flanges so that it would look OEM afterwards. I set up a little spray booth, and dilligiently applied several coats of VHT red in opposing directions as per the instrctions. Unfortunately, having spray painted things before and had the paint run, I waited too long between coats, and the paint only wrinkled in a few spots. Instructions on the internetz said it gets better with heat, so I sat it down in front of the gas heater. Nothing. Ass.

Oh and the VHT colour isn't the same red it used to be, and now my manifold is non wrinkly AND a gay shade of orange.

I peeled off all the little masking tape bits, but it still looked shit. I took heaps of photos of the process, but now they can go get fucked. Stupid orange manifold. I'll hit it up with paint stripper I think, and re-do it in fluro pink, just so it looks less gay
tuna, RUSSGT, Master D and 2 others like this.
