Alright time to Resurrect my Driveway thread.

Some Good/Bad news found out today.

The Bad: The Seals on my shitty TD04 are pretty much gone...
The Good: New turbo is in order...

I would like some recommendations on this.. At this stage I'm currently tossing up between: VF34 or *slightly more sided* Blouch TD05H-18GXT Billet Turbo 8cm2.

I have no plans to make "huge" amounts of power at this stage or in the near future & would prefer responsiveness > Lag.

While im getting that shit replaced. I will also be going ahead with the 6 Speed Conversion through Doug @ S Technic

Thoughts?

Cheers Trav

Get the XTR Blouch if you go that way. Ball bearing...

Are you looking to push past/towards 300 ? If so the blouch 1.5 or the td05 would be my suggestion. Also 7cm hot side may suit your needs a bit better from reading and speaking to Troy and ASG. The vf series turbos aren't particularly great with flow.

E85 to go with the new turbo Trav ?

Not looking past 300 to be honest for now, especially with Stock Internals. Will explore that option later down the track & only after the 6 Speed route is complete..

Reason I also looked at the VF Series was from what I have read it has similar characteristics in delivery & response with a bit more Mid/Top end compared to the TD04 (I'm currently making about 246HP). It's also not too straining on the engine & is relatively more "Safe" for my Series of EJ.

I know the limitations of my car & my series of the 2.5's (EJ 255/257) & don't want to be playing Russian Roulette; *Cough* Justin .

Will definitely consider the E85 option. Specially Considering it would suit my needs, being I use mine as a daily & rarely sits for extended periods..

Trav, mine and Scary's have the CBRD/Blouch TD05-18G equivalents. Mine is preety good considering OEM zorst - Scary's ... enough said.

Mine hits peak torque at 3800 - Scary's at 3400. Both are 8cm hotsides. Mine is limited by the OEM cat back exhaust.

They are great turbos and I would suggest the ball bearing versions would be quicker on spool up.

Graph of mine for reference:

Seems to hold boost pretty well.

EDIT - Forgot to mention that both Scary's and mine have appropriate silicon inlets and Grimspeed boost controllers.

Excellent.. So with mine being unrestricted (3 Inch TBE) & installed Grimmspeed 3 Port Electronic Boost Solenoid. I should net for some extra power if i go the Blouch Route. Will see how we go

E85 pump, ID1000's and 1.5 XTR, conservative tune will make boat loads of torque and hp and your engine will love you. Save the environment and run your hippy car subaru on the sweet sweet corn juice I say.

How are you going with fuel consumption & lack of e85 servo's and stuff Dave? I'm still only seeing Osbourne Park & Lexia, with no more planned as of yet. Few more popping up in NSW though.

Two Servo's have popped up around Ellenbrook for me in the last 6 months. One on Gnangara rd & one within Ellenbrook itself even more a reason for me personally.

I live 5 km from Osborne Park United. I visit on Wednesday every week. Nobody in line for E85 and its cheapest that day. Yesterday $140.7 ltr and the consistency is excellent. No issues but I do keep a 20 ltr jerry can of E85 at home just in case.
