To get the most out of an aftermarket ECU requires tuning. Unfortunately it can also add up pretty quickly so people tend to neglect it. Usually people buy a $2-4k ECU then only pay for a single hour on the dyno. Nets a good peak power result but fuel consumption, cruise, cold start, hot start, part throttle driving etc can suffer. If stechnic give it the all clear mechanically and suspect the tune, take it to a tuning shop and explain to them what it is doing. I'd recommend All Star as Sean is pro at Motec, but there are others out there that can look at it. Another option is Glen Baker who is the WA dealer for Motec. My car started first every time and did 450km+ to a tank, and that was with a super short ratio box.

Cheers Jester, sean tuned the last one and he'll definately be getting this one but by the sounds of things itll need a re-tune sooner then i thought.

Changing back to a STi top mount intercooler is going to make the car massively better. Simplifies it all, neatens it all up. That front mount cooler on yours is particularly nasty in design and installation.

By all means drop in and we will have a look over to make certain nothing is out of order but I can't think of anything of the top of my head that could affect cold start other than the tune?

If it had the original ECU there's loads of things, but the MoTeC is much more tolerant of things that freak out the original Mass airflow based tune.

Default Cluster Fuck 1 Out of the Way

So finally got my car sorted.

To cut a long story short, when i got it serviced Stechnic changed 1 or 2 of my idlers and the motec apparently doesnt like that throwing my timing out so that at a certain rpm the crank and cam sensors try to read at the same time causing my misfire. Once motec caught on to the issue they then gave ASG the wrong settings and kept saying the were right until they sent a rep out to have a look and presto one of the settings was wrong.

None the less i have my STi back and that's all that really matter's, ASG were excellent to deal with to boot. They also removed my brant which shat itself while it was there. Pretty happy with the power and torque to boot

So get the car back and was a very busy day for Dave and I. New rotors, pads, braided lines and a fluid flush for both cars (Lachy to the rescue with the last one)

We also got around to putting on my Tein Super Streets and new wheels in time for my wheel alignment with John this morning.

I really don't think the photo does them any justice tbh, most likely due to my crappy iphone spec shot and the need for a little more low, but I'm super happy with the look and the fit

Cheers for all the help Dave and Lachy

Now to save for more powaaahh, see you at Collie

That dyno plot is all over the place lol. But that peak torque number has me all sorts of happy. Where are the wrc mirrors?

Default Track Days - More Power

My first Perth-WRX collie day was awesome was a good experience and to finally have the car running was a big plus. Afternoon was cut short when i split a radiator hose and power steering and alternator belt, which was probably a good thing due to the about of rubbing i was doing in turn one, don't need to be ruining AD08's. Limped it home fine thanks to help from the usual suspects.

My first no limits was an absolute blast and will do my best to get to more event throughout the coming year. Managed to get into the 70 second mark on the long track with only getting 1 lap with traffic out of 4 before a certain rotary decided to drop oil all over the racing track. So after the delays we changed to the short track and with the light fading fast was a daunting task but well worth the reward once the confidence grew and my battle with Dave driving Master D's old bug helped spur me on to a handy 58.9 on my first night out at barbs. His 58.3 on his first night out on the short track even more impressive

In summary the AD08's are godly and the sti's are awesome cars to drive on the track and i loved every minute of it. I noticed a fair bit of understeer as i started to get more confident with my lines and how hard i could push. So swaybars ALK and some bushings seem to be on the cars

More power ? Would like to push towards 300whp

Turbo wise ? TD05 20G ? Blouch Dom 3 ?
Injectors ? Size ? Brand ?
Any other suggested mods ?

Also add a roll centre kit if you want to reduce the understeer.

Its the same as the ALK. Alot of people say they work, alot say they dont.
