Yeah I'm hoping it's all going to come together fairly soon. I will update my thread with the news once I have it all locked in!

So it has been about 6 months of ownership and my Subaru friends still have not noticed I drive a Mitsubishi

To continue the improvement theme I gave the car a clean, clay-bar and polish which restored the paint to a bright white. I also took this opportunity to remove the poxy lancer badge as it was cramping my style.

So new Enkei decals arrived in time for rims to get powdercoated. That will happen Monday and will be going with a similar shade of silver with a silver metallic flake, so hopefully looks close to stock. The paint on the rims now isn't too bad but two rims have small runs all all have paint chipping on all the lips (not curbed, the paint is just flaking off)

To pass the time not working on my car me and my dad did some work on his friends Evo 8, just a minor brake refresh mainly to remove a brake shudder at high speed.

So on my drive home from work Friday I heard a slight clunking from the front suspension which progressively got worse as I drove and when I got home this is what I was presented with after I dropped the dust shielding.

Phil and Dan at TMS pointed me towards a customers car who had a set of E8 MR Bilstiens replaced with coilovers only last week. The mileage on the suspension is roughly 70,000km which is pretty much a match to what the car has done which is nice.

So tomorrow will be spent swapping aftermarket springs from old suspension to 'new' Bilstiens, cleaning the brake calipers and repaint in wheel wells while I wait for my rims to come back from the powdercoaters

"Well there is your problem"

These are the fronts that came out of the car. The passenger side (right in photo) is leaking past the seal quite a bit and the drivers side is starting to do the same. The both side offer far less compression resistance then the 'new' Bilstiens I picked up yesterday so probably a good thing I got them.

You can see how much of a beating it put on the passenger bump stop took, and the rest of the rubbers and shields on them are pretty beaten as well. Thankfully the new set are in far better condition so should be a goer very soon.

So while I had a free morning I finished the rest of the suspension install. Went smooth, no unexpected hiccups and it gave me a good chance to check all the bushed and ball joint.

My wheels were also finished about an hour ago but I am currently tied up with adult stuff, so that is probably going to become a tomorrow job which sucks but work pays for this stuff so I guess it comes first (sometimes).

Cool man...I really appreciate guys like yourself putting up stuff like this because there is such a backlog of threads with dudes talking about a problem and how they fixed it. Can't say that it means I'm going to feel safe taking it on that doesn't matter though, I always want to be learning new stuff and these sorts of little things are really helpful for a complete mechanical noob. Cheers mate
