It's much better to get an STi six-speed and STi rear diff nowadays.
Just pick up the WRX gears (be they normal or PPG) and compare to the thickness of the STi gears - you will see why in an instant.
The PPG box is nothing more than a bandaid fix... The 6-speed is a much bigger and beefier gearbox!

I've got them (they have probably been on the car for around 8 or 9 years of it's 16 years - I didn't buy them!)... Straight cut 4th is annoying, 1-3 would be enough...
But as I was saying it just doesn't make sense anymore. With the STi conversion you get the better final drive ratio, helical front and rear diffs, DCCD... There is just
no comparison... and the STi conversion is cheaper too! (Unless you work for PPG and can get the gears super cheap or something.
