Are you still using the factory subaru boost control solenoid?
if you are, that is most likely the cause of the boost cut/compressor surge issues.

Nope, I have a Turbo XS dual stage boost controller but I'm under the impression that boost is controlled by the autronic ECU...

No offence but if your running an autronic a dual stage boost controller should be useless as the ECU will run or try to run whatever boost is set in it, maybe that's half your trouble. Especially if it's running a MAP sensor. Also if you are running the subaru solenoid you will struggle, bettr of getting a MAC 3 port.

Thats what i thought, only just bought the car and I think the previous owner REXLLENT had the turbo xs controlling the boost before he put the ECU in. I haven't touched or fiddled with it at all.

After a little research it looks like a 3 port solenoid is a must.

And yes its running a MAP sensor...
