Hi All,

Welcome to my blog!

I'm going to attempt to list the mods completed on my car so far and any future mods as I do them.

Initial PFC Tune....ASG

Posted 21-12-2009 at 11:53 PM by Rossco (Trials & Tribulations of Modding a version 6 STI)

After settling on a Power FC as my ecu of choice....I had to find one...Phizzle to the rescue!

I'm one of those people who enjoys doing all the work on their cars themselves...So after purchasing the Power Fc I proceeded to teach myself everything I could about this type of ecu......
1 week later I self installed it, removed some timing from the ignition map to safe guard against detonation and set the boost limit to 14 psi.

The car drove waay better of boost...

More POWWAHHH!

Posted 19-12-2009 at 12:38 PM by Rossco (Trials & Tribulations of Modding a version 6 STI)

The next stage in the evolution of my car was to improve upon the factory tune.

To me the logical solution was to go with a power Fc.

Why?

The PowerFC comes with a pretty decent base map. All of the car factory functions are retained and there's no need to pay extra fees to have functions unlocked.

You can drive around on boost under 1 bar for months (with an EJ 207..NOT a 205!) before having a proper custom tune done.

Drive-ability...

Base dyno run

Posted 29-10-2009 at 11:16 PM by Rossco (Trials & Tribulations of Modding a version 6 STI)

Next came a Jap spec STI cluster (sourced through JWS) with the tach where it should be...In the centre!

The only problem was the odo was 25,000 km higher than the cluster I removed...DOH!!

It was at about this time the current power level was becoming........well boring!

The car was dyno'd at Tenagah and when it put down 212hp atw running stock boost.... Not too shabby for a 200,000km ej207!

The quest for more grunt had begun...

Posted 25-10-2009 at 12:25 AM by Rossco (Trials & Tribulations of Modding a version 6 STI)

Now that John had sorted the suspension & alignment the car was awesome to drive......Bugger all understeer and slightly tail happy when pushed hard...Nice! :)

I still had a couple of issues to sort out c/o the previous owner who had a thing for RED paint!
The centre console.....RED
The dashtop storage bin....RED
The instrument cluster..RED
The passanger airbag......RED
The MOMO steering wheel airbag......... BLOODY RED!
Anything under...

The first mods I had in mind were rims, better rubber & suspension.....

Enter John Fowler @ Wheels world Osborne Park.

I picked up a set of 17" Advanti atomics and a new set of Hankook Rs2's....... Whilst having the following suspension added to the car:

Whiteline flatout lowered springs front & rear
Whiteline Anti-lift kit
Whiteline subframe lock kit
Whiteline roll centre kit
Cusco adjustable front & rear...
